In the second part of our Sapporo Coat series, we'll be working through the construction of the body.

Lay the side back pieces over the back piece, matching the notches at the seam edge. Stitch as shown on the red line above.
Press the seams open. It should now look something like this photo above.
Lay your front pieces over your back piece with right sides together and stitch together at the shoulders. Press the seam, using a pressing cloth or tea towel between the iron and your fabric if needed to avoid damage or burns. I've opened out the left side here to show you how it looks when it's laid flat.
Stitch your side seams together and press flat.
Looking good! Your outer shell is nearly done. In the next post, we'll show you how to add on the sleeves.
